Staying in touch via IRC

Before I got involved in the drupal community, I’d never heard of IRC. It’s basically a chat protocol that’s really useful for group conversations, getting help, etc. Joe Stewart recently created an IRC channel for the nashville drupalers. If you’d like to join the conversation, here’s what you need to know.

Our room is called #drupal-tn and is hosted on the irc.freenode.net server. Drupal.org has some good documentation on what IRC is and how to use it - here’s a link to start with http://drupal.org/irc.

One of the first questions IRC newbies ask is, "What software should I use?" There are lots of options but here are some of the most commonly used clients. Feel free to suggest others in the comments if I missed your favorite.

• Mibbit (browser based)
• ChatZilla (Firefox add-on)
